Obstructive Sleep Apnoea
Do you feel tired all the time? Does your partner complain that you snore? Do you have difficulty concentrating at work? If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, you may have obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA). A recent study in Singapore reported that 1 out of 3 Singaporeans suffer from moderate to severe obstructive sleep apnea, with the majority being undiagnosed or untreated.
Obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA) is a condition whereby there are repetitive episodes of partial (Hypopnoea) or complete obstruction (Apnoea) of the upper airway during sleep. These episodes manifests during sleep as a pattern of intermittent loud snoring interspersed with periods of silence lasting for more than 10 seconds. The reduced airflow also leads to a reduced oxygen environment and subsequent arousal from sleep, leading to sleep deprivation.
If you suspect that you have OSA, it would be beneficial for you to arrange a consult as soon as possible. To find out more, make an appointment for a consultation with our specialist today.
